My Reflection

by Nancy   Oct 16, 2006

She looks into the mirror at a girl
She thinks she doesn't know
She looks beyond the ashen image
Beyond this corpse, all memories flow

Good times and the bad, happy moments and the sad
Memories she will never forget
Then she remembers her old dreams
She promised never to neglect

She suddenly realizes
That she forgot them all
Except for one tiny dream
That said," never let them fall"

She always wanted to be
The girl that everyone looks up to
Not necessarily smart, but wise
To be the protector of the true

She was never taught how to act
Every movement of the eyes she would feign
If they were to choose A Queen of the Fake
She would have been the first to reign

She wished to have the
Cinderella petite, low voice
Not her present taboo
Her intolerable vocal noise

Then feelings suddenly rush
Throughout her body like an angry stream
Every tear that drops from her eyes
Carrying a shattered dream

She suddenly realized she's not
The person she always wanted to be
As I look through the mirror, I realize
This carcass in the mirror is ME
