The Night

by Denise   Oct 22, 2006

I am surrounded by eternal darkness,
And somehow it gives me peace...
Feeling the wind blow in my hair,
The sound of grasshoppers enjoying the night...
I wish to see the stars tonight,
But the clouds are overpowering the sky...
I feel a million people watching me,
And yet I am alone...
Everywhere I can see houses with small dim lights,
A warm, cozy feeling, it gives my heart...
But still I prefer to stay outside,
And let the silents ease my mind...
There is a beautiful aroma of wet mud and grass,
It smells like rain..
Lightening spreading through the sky,
With the sound of thunder demanding to be heard...
Little drops of water cleansing my body and soul..
Oh, how I love the rain...
My thoughts are broken by strange sounds...
My heart starts to beat faster and faster,
With fear running thought my veins...
But I calm again for there is too much beauty around me,
For me to be afraid...
It gives me great sadness to leave this place of happiness,
But I must get back to my reality...
