The Angel and The Sinner

by Lisa Robinson   Oct 23, 2006

An angel saw a sinner
one day not long ago.
So he hailed a passing cloud,
and drifted down below.

He landed on the earth
near where the sinner lay.
Said the angel to the sinner,
"Are you sure this is the way?

Are you sure you like the feeling
from the spirits in the wine?
Do you know the feeling's different
when the spirit is divine?

You get a better feeling
from service to the Lord.
And there is no morning after,
'cause there is no night before."

The angel left for heaven.
The sinner there he lay.
He thought about the angel,
and started in to pray.

He said, "Dear Lord, I'm sorry
for every wrong I've done.
Please help me to be different
and lead me to the sun."

Then suddenly the sinner felt
a hand upon his head.
He knew the Lord was with him,
so he bowed his head and said,

"Oh thank you for your angel,
who opened up my eyes.
Forgive me please for all my sins,
and show me paradise."

Though we can't all have an angel
to change our wicked ways.
We have the Lord beside us,
through all our earthly days.

We have the power within us
to judge both right and wrong,
and we show God through our way of life
the weak ones from the strong.
