The World Through A Child's Eyes

by TaKe Me As I Am   Oct 30, 2006

A green crayon for the grass
Blue for the sky
A yellow crayon for the sun
..the world through a child's eyes

With mommy and daddy kissing
A red heart above their heads
Bedtime stories every night
And many stuffed animals on the bed

A child sees so many things
Though pain and hate are never one
Crayons brighten their perfect world
The picture is never done

Pink and purple flowers
That never seem to die
A brown dog on the porch
..the world through a child's eyes

A gold crayon for the stars
And the moon that shines so bright
A black crayon for the boy's best friend
It doesn't matter that he is white

A child is always peaceful
Until he is TAUGHT hate
And by that time the picture is torn apart
To repair it, it is too late

Wow this poem made me smile and then frown. But in good ways. I loved it, it was peaceful with a very clear message. Its sad that when people grow up their attitudes change. This is a really really really really good poem and i love this positive msg.
