Envy

by TaKe Me As I Am   Oct 30, 2006

"That's her" they say
as she walks on by
hair full of volume and blowing in the wind
eyes that glisten in the sun and give a peek into her soul
...proving she's as beautiful on the inside as she is the outside

her smile full of warmth
and brighter than the sun reflecting off of the ocean on a hot summer day
perfect body with the most amazing curves
...she is the envy of every girl

i say i hate her
but secretly im just jealous
...jealous until that day

that day i saw her in a new light
sitting on the toilet seat crying
white powder on her nose
i could feel her eyes pierce through me
as she yelled at me to close the door and promise not to tell anyone
...that her reputation was the only good thing in her life

she hugged me and told me about her life
..her father died when she was three
her step father molests her
coke was her escape
it made her feel as beautiful as everyone else believed she was

i wiped the tears from her eyes
she wiped the powder from her nose
i promised i wouldn't tell

and just then- she walked out of the bathroom
smile just like a rainbow appearing as the sun peeks through the clouds after a rainstorm

"That's her" they said as she walked on by
...not everything is as perfect as it may seem*
