Stealing honey from the bees

by Sentient   Nov 2, 2006

We shared the day
My heart burned silently
As we twisted through the trees

We shouted out
Raining joy on the fields
She fluttered a glance back at me

We ran ecstatic
Dancing our way to the lake
We found something unexpected

Up in a tree
A hive was dangling
Tempting us, unprotected

"Do you want the honey?",
She asked in gasps
"Are you sure?", I asked discreetly.

Scared they would hear
We grinned and agreed
To taste what appeared so sweetly

We shared the treat
Our eyes glowed with delight
We discovered something astounding

But our minds didn't know
What our hearts would feel
When the bees came back abounding
