Sorrow Within a Song

by Unrequited   Nov 3, 2006

There she stands,
a tragic beauty, only enhanced
by the burning passion once held within;
a fire that struggles to breathe.
elegance, so
fresh and distinct, as i breathe in her warmth,
a warmth that slowly grows cold.
there she is, a lone wolf
gazing upon the stars.

in the rain, she stands,
drenched in the blue tears of an angel,
blessed and forgotten.
deep clouds mourn her regrets,
as her gentle face braves the insidious storm.

alone she waits,
with melancholy eyes,
and sad sorrow within her song.
her words, soft as silk,
shrouded in despair...
and yet her beauty shines.

eyelids weaken,
as the salty drops
mask her heavenly face
the never ending song of sorrow
sweetly increases in voice;
her heart slowly falters-
and yet her beauty shines.

inside the silent depths of her vibrancy,
the icy shower melts away,
erased by the gentle ambiance of her skin.
graveyard gray consumes the night,
her shadow as silver as the sovereign moon.
her lyrics give in to the dark surroundings,
as this lonesome wolf releases her soul.

there i am,
taking her in with the rapture inside my heart.
she turns,
i smile.
locked with mine, her mysterious eyes hold my breath.
now, her sorrow dies,
ceasing to press her lips.

there it is,
a faint smile, suddenly brushing her face.
a glimmer of hope,
a silhouette of the bliss she once knew.

but now it's gone.
smile fades, gloom returns.
those eyes, glazed with heartache,
return to the stormy sky,
as the heavy thunder endures.
i wince in agony, as she turns away
and steps over the horizon.
my chest becomes empty.
this angelic beauty exits my life,
my heart within her hands.

she left me there,
to wither away.
but at least i helped her
find one last smile.

engulfed in darkness,
i now stand alone
with melancholy eyes,
and sad sorrow within my song.

I worked on this poem for three days, and it still didn't turn out the way I wanted. But I don't know if I've ever worked so long on one piece before. and for that alone, i am proud. i had a particular photograph in mind when i wrote it.
