Elope

by The Good Girl   Nov 6, 2006

Singing me to shipwreck

Your siren like gaze. The curve of your lips

Part the gates of Hades and I

Devour oblivion,

Black and hollow. A beating heart

Stuck at zero, pumping ashes and collected dust.

Rust.

Coughing up black mouthfuls, mechanic in your speech

Speaking patterns and dialects that only

Venus would speak.

Virtue rots with Persephone's doom seed,

Imprisoned and alone,

So much further from home than I have ever known.

Where has your song gone? It no longer resonates

Inside of these chipped, gray walls.

Two eyes, yours, deep as black holes

Capturing everything, never letting go.

I'm hungrier than you'll ever know

To assimilate to your love, death:

The only melody to lead me home.

I loved how you had Rust take up one line, it really shows your poetic timing is on the ball.
