Silent (innocence)

by Bubbles   Nov 10, 2006

A glimmer of what could have been,
A silent cry from within,
What you get is what you see,
There really is not much to me,]
No on second thought that's wrong,
I won't bow down and trail along,
Hearing notes of a slow sad song,
Bidding you to hold on,
Assuring you that you're not through,
Whispering lies that were once true,
Commonplace conformity,
Salvage what is left of me,
Letting go and breaking down,
A crying scream that makes no sound,
Listlessly portraying me,
A picture of what she should be,
Words will come and words have passed,
Words will fade but their effect will last,
Silent words ease a thundering ache,
Slowly filling an empty space,
Broken bits of her soul,
Giving up and going cold,
Thinking thoughts much too bold,
Losing track of hands to hold,
Alone and empty - letting go,
Closing in so no one knows,
A silent wall to keep her safe,
Shutting down though it's far too late,
The deed is done and can't be erased,
Her secret pain is written on her face,
What they don't know has caused her harm,
No fighting back - she's just withdrawn,
Closing off and losing touch,
Shutting down when it's too much,
Forgetting now how she once lived,
Wanting to forget but unable to forgive,
Remembering what he took away,
Remembering what she lost that day,
Unable to stay silent now,
She's giving up and reaching out,
Often times she wonders how it would have been,
If she had never met him - and he never took her innocence...
