They Gave Their Lives

by Kimmy8851   Nov 10, 2006

They gave their lives
They gave their lives for us,
They sacrificed everything just so we can be free,
And what do we have to show for it?
People who don't care,
People who don't give them a second thought.
We should be thankful that we have the freedom we have today,
If it wasn't for them we would be living in some place,
Some place that people get killed for nothing.
When we are asked to remember,
What do you know about the death they saw?
The pain they went though,
The hurt that happened to them.
We should be thankful they gave their lives,
So we all can be free,
For the sacrifice they gave I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
We all should take a minute and thank them,
Say a prayer for them,
And say a prayer for us.
Lest we never forget.

Honey my granda would have really liked this poem. I know how hard WW2 was on him considering how he acted when ever anyone talked about the war. I liked it.
