Lest We Forget

As they left, ready for the war, I sighed, hoping for a miracle to happen. I will never forget the many memories. I held back tears, I was ready for the worst.

I felt their feelings, I cried their tears. I couldn't imagine the pain they were going through. As I lay down at night, I imaged their enemy, shrapnel flying everywhere. At any moment I could of burst into tears, but I didn't, I knew I had to be their strength from home.

I saw the bodies, through the mist, lying on the dirt, I heard the heart wrenching screams and shouts from the wounded. I knew that if it came down to it, It would be a sacrifice I knew they would of made.

The courage of the soldiers was enough to give you the strength to carry on.

Many years have passed since the, what felt like endless, war was called to a truce. A cloud of sorrow, sadness and anger still float above their heads of those who have lost loved ones. Our memories are strong.
