Prayer

by Brent Hopper   Mar 22, 2004

You were there when times got rough.
You were there when I felt I had enough.
You provided your shoulders when I was crying.
You always know when I am lying.
From the time of my careless father.
When I even pretended not to bother.
And many more that would break the heart.
Yet we were never torn apart.
You would always listen to what's on my mind.
Another like you: impossible to find.
I could commit the harshest of acts, you would still forgive.
If you did not exist, I'd question why I live.
You made the ultimate sacrifice to save each and everyone.
From falling into an evil deception of what is supposedly fun.
There is one who is the exact opposite of thee.
And you are here to shield him from me.
Yet I can only thank you with a small token such as my soul.
So I pray you would help me discover my role.
Through the good times and bad, you helped me bare.
Because you my Lord were always there.
