For My Sister

For My Sister
By: Tess Dattilo-Roberts

She smiles wide, her eyes so bright. It is a few years after the incident and still no father in sight. No more tears for his absence. No more pain of feeling alone and not so average. Daddy's little girl with a daddy away finally accepts reality as it is, finally being happy. No one understands the trauma this little girl has suffered by one not even two glances. But, deep down inside she has gone through more the regular 9 years old. Once Upon a time ago, her life was full of agony. Screams and threats of hate from her former hero, her daddy. Here she is now, playing games and no evidence of negative history. My little sister left her past confidentially between herself and me.
