Dark highway

Took a ride
Out of town;
Out of this troubled land,
On my old Red Buick;
Down this dark highway;
Across this wasteland;
I droved aimlesly;
Staring at the dim skies;
I see a loneseome moon
And some far away stars;

The cool wind;
Chilled me to my bones;
I searched despreately;
In this darkness;
For that shimmering light;
For a place to put a night;
To lay this tired soul down;

For a while I thought;
I have lost my senses;
Wandering all alone;
On this lonely highway;
Befriending the darkness;
I heard the howling of a lone wolf;
From a distance it came;

I braked my car abruptly;
Didnt know why,
But did it anyway;
Got out of my Buick;
To feel the cold of this winter;
Stood all alone;
Against the wind;
Hoping to ease my pain;
I had a bottle of tequila with me;
With a pack of red and white;
Was awaiting for the sunrise;
And smoking my life away;

I listened to the Eagles;
The tune of Desperado;
Gave me some tears;
Maybe some love here
Will keep me alive;
This emptiness Is killing me...
But my hunger shall kept me going...

Ain't getting any younger;
Very much a desperate man;
Been out riding fences;
For far too long...
Gotta stop before it is too late;
