Reality

by Rachel   Nov 26, 2006

I see you every night
Before I go to sleep
In blurry photographs
That you don't know I keep
In a frame that you made
Next to a bed that was ours
In a home that we had
Now I'm held in prison bars

Together forever
That's what we always said
But we drifted apart
And now you're all but dead
I gave you my heart
And my body too
But that wasn't enough
To keep me with you

There were too many obstacles
Things we couldn't see
And the stress became too much
Now you're not with me
But it could have been different
If the problems we had voiced
Instead we focused on ourselves
And in the end there was no choice

You know I'll always love you
Though we're so far apart
You're jokes still make me laugh
Though they tear up my heart
You were the one that I dreamt of
The man in all my dreams
It's too bad we had to wake up
And face reality

This poem is really good... I wish I couldn't but I relate to it so much. I especially like the last lines. Its so hard to get a reality check sometimes, but hey what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
