Captured by Love

by sibyllene   Nov 26, 2006

I hate the way I feel,
when all I bring to you
is pleasure for the moment,
dishonoring what's true.
And when I feel restricted,
I'd rather leave than stay-
Love freedom in the morning,
but cry to end the day.
Attachment is a prison,
with pleasure for its pain;
These bonds I treasure slacken
and I tighten them again.
The reason for my sorrow
is the reason for my smile;
I'm bound up by your manner,
and I'm happy all the while.
I'd rather give you gladness
for forever, than an hour,
and Love's sweet hold will tauten,
while my heart is in your power.
Let God be your director, then,
and goodness be your guide,
because my love is kept for you -
and binds me to your side.

    WOW. This was absolutely wonderful. A very deep and beautiful piece. Especially loved these lines:

    Attachment is a prison,
    with pleasure for its pain;
    These bonds I treasure slacken
    and I tighten them again.
    The reason for my sorrow
    is the reason for my smile;
    I'm bound up by your manner,
    and I'm happy all the while.

    This was trully an excellent job. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!

    "But cry at end of day" is worded very awkwardly, but i'm sure it was just a typing error.

    The rhyming sceme is simple but effective. This poem was really sad. I must say I can relate to the thought of loving someone even if they are using you. And that... even when you know that, you still stay with them. Heh, good write.
