HERE TODAY

by SPC Ecklund   Nov 27, 2006

I stand my ground and not let fear knock me down.

I live my life day by day because it just might be my last.

I am afraid to die overseas but hey I am in the military indeed.

People look at me and put me down but "WE" fight for this ground.

I stand here today knowing that I made no mistake.

Take me today take me tommorrow; I will fight through my sorrow.

I gave my life to this dear country in return i deserve respect.

Respect for me and all before me, please show me your dignity.

This war keeps going on and seems as if it will never end.

This is "OUR" country and "WE" are the ones that defend.

On Veteran's Day remember all our four fathers and those who fought.

Soon I may take a soldier's place and I'll be staring fear in the face.
