A Letter to my Father

by adrienne   Nov 28, 2006

A 7 year old girl in a black dress stands next to her mother and brother
She asks, "mommy why are those men putting daddy in the ground?"

Here I am 10 years later.
That 7 year old didn't understand
But I do now
Your never coming back home
You live in a silver coffin buried 6 feet underground
I hate you more then every now
You died in a cowardly way
But I still miss you

You have missed so much in the past 10 years
My first kiss
Getting into college
The love of your daughter, of your family

And you're only going to miss more
My wedding and walking me down the aisle
Your grandkids

Those must have been things you didn't want to witness
Did you really hate your life that much?
You didn't even say goodbye
You put a gun in your mouth and left everything behind
