The Past

by Lauren   Dec 2, 2006

So it's been three years
since I heard your screams
they haven't gotten any softer
I don't know what that means.
All I can remember
is the gun against my head
footsteps walking down the hall
as they left us for dead.
I turned to see
my best friend gone
a bullet to the chest
I've never felt so alone.
So you ask why I keep things close
why I rarely let down my guard
because that how I protect myself
I'm doing okay so far.
But everytime I sleep
I see your face
my palms are sweaty
my heart begins to race
as I see your eyes
staring back at me
and I hope you soon fade
to just a memory.

**I'll never Forget**
