True Friends

by Sotiri   Dec 3, 2006

What makes a true friend is not the present they give,
Or the gifts they take.
But the way they help you live,
And what decisions they do make.

For a true friend comes to your aid,
When times are just plain tough.
And makes sure your not about to fade,
Once you had quite enough.

And true friends support your most controversial decisions,
Sparing you of hurtful implies.
And remind of your most sought out visions,
A warm, and comforting surprise.

Though what makes a true friend is the simplest feeling of all,
Said through words or actions or song.
That is the feeling that makes you not so small,
The feeling that you belong.

A good poem with a nice message. I liked your concluding stanza, that though what you love about your friends is simple, what they do for you is great! how true that is!!!
