Goodbye Caitlin

by Julia   Dec 3, 2006

We were so close
Best friends 'till the end
Sharing stories and secrets
Playing "let's pretend"

But I was naive
I thought this would last
I was so wrong
You'd soon slip from my grasp

Middle school started,
Old ways became new.
Your new attitude was,
"Why should I talk to you?"

I was heartbroken, I cried every day
Why, Caitlin, why, must you slip away?

Eventually, I learned to move on
I was happy and smiled, though our bond was gone

Now this life lesson
Has been taught to me:
No friendship has
A lifetime guarantee
