Old Memories

by Simply Complex   Dec 4, 2006

The light dies from my eyes
And the smile fades from my face
As unwelcome memories tread through my mind.

I stare at the blinding white snow
As the droplets of red blood
Stand in sharp contrast as they spell out my final cry for help

And as the bitter-cold winter air whips at my hands,
The icy tears fall onto frost-bitten cheeks,
As I stare solemnly,

At the old memories written
in my own blood
sprawled across the new fallen snow.

The light dies from my eyes
And the smile fades from my face And my breathing stills

As the last droplet of blood
Spells out the word
"Goodbye"
