He only takes the best (revised)

The night was dark
The road was narrow and the air was very cold
No one would have believed
The events that were about to unfold.

What started out to be fun
Ended the night with dread
Leaving 3 people alive
And 4 of 7 dead.

2 were headed back from an amusement park
3 home from vacation
The two at fault just left a bar
And Madison was their destination.

In the truck that I was in
Was just my cousin and me
But in the vehicle behind us
Carried the family of 3.

I had my seat leaned back
Just as tired as I could get
The next thing I know we were off the road
Little did I know we had just been hit.

As soon as we came to a stop
I took my seatbelt off and jumped out of the truck
Still unaware of what had happened
Unaware the we had been struck.

As I stood there trying to catch my breath
I saw out of the corner of my eye
Flames that were scolding hot
And about a pine tree high.

As we ran down there Adam told me to call 911
So I ran back to the truck to grab my phone
By the time I got to the blazing truck
A couple of the tires had already blown.

I could hear the remaing tires popping
Even worse I could hear the guy scream
I couldn't help get him out
Reality was becoming worse then a bad dream.

It was shortly before help got there
I noticed the SUV
Sitting off crushed in the ditch
Barely visible and hard to see.

With it finally hitting me
That they had been hit to
My mind began to race even more
And I didn't know what to do.

I guess we had our focus
On the truck that was fiery bright
That we didn't stop to think to see
If anyone else was involved that night.

My uncle went to check on them
For the driver and the passenger it was just to late
But for the nine year old little boy in the back seat
It was left up to God to determine his fate.

It was to late for the driver at fault
His passenger got out okay
Me and Adam was just fine
But the little boy died later that day.

I couldn't eat and I couldn't sleep
The next few days were the worse of my life
I had such a hard time understanding why God
Would out such a nice family through so much pain and strife.

To make matters worse
They were taken on Christmas eve
Taking all the joy and pleasure
Out of the gifts we were about to give and receive.

Taking all of the excitement
Out of being with our family
I could not understand why
He took them and decided to spare me.

But then one day it hit me
And it all became so clear
When God needs a few new angels
He always looks down here.

And with Christmas so near
He had three spots he needed to fill
He hates to see his children hurt
But it was just part of his will.

After a while of looking he found
Robert, Kimberly and Brett and knew they were the best
And so he sent down his faithful servants
To come and take care of the rest.

Although they left a caring family
A brother/son behind
God knew he chose the best angels
That he thought he could ever find.

Its almost been a year now
Since they have been gone
But they are dearly missed
And their memories still lives on.

True story.tragic event.
