Love Like Rain

by fearose   Dec 9, 2006

Malice rises in the air with the tribal smoke from the ash-laden fire. I smell the thick soot, dread collecting in my throat, scorching it with sorrow.

There you are, figure wavering in the hot smoke across the way. I smile at you but you ignore my plea to be back with you and I know hope is lost.

Suddenly, lightning rockets across the sky, followed by witty rain, smothering the fire in a billow of smoke. I stand and look up, letting the rain fall on my face.

Let the rain slip between my fingers like our love that used to be so dear. Hanging on a thread, suspended between two knives, ready to snap.

Goodbye my love...
