Kissing Him Instead

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Dec 14, 2006

He lies awake by my side each night
To chase my nightmares away
I know you're trying to do the same
With every sweet word you say

He hugs me before he leaves
And kisses me so soft and sweet
You promise me you'll do the same
The first time that we meet

He laughs 'cause I jump when I'm scared
But he holds my hand through the dark
I sometimes want to run to you
But I don't even know where you are

He wipes away my tears from my cheek
And holds them like they are gold
You promise me I will be happy
With you when I'm old

He holds my heart like a precious gem
I'm beauty defined to him
I want to give my love to you
But it feels like I'm never going to win

He picks me up and walks me home
He brushes the hair from my eyes
I can't help but sit here and wonder
If all your words are lies

It's just not good enough to see you
In my dreams while I'm in bed
'Cause he's there when I wake up
That's why I'm kissing him instead

    Very nicely done.
Don't leave the one you love for the one you like cos then the one you like will leave you for the one they love.
Something my fiancee told me. I think it relates to your poem in a way.
    Well done
