My Father

by christina   Dec 15, 2006

I remember a time it was so long ago
I sat on my fathers knees and he rocked me very slow
he held me in his arms and I felt not afraid
he kissed my on my cheek and the pain flew away
My father was the kind of man who knew what to say
my father was the type of man that made nightmares seem OK
he told me one day when we were standing alone
I'm proud of you honey I want you to know
you've done nothing but help me since your mother went away
you stayed when you didn't have to and kept all my worries at bay
You raised your sisters and brother and helped me everyday
you cleaned and you cooked without even asking for pay
for that I am grateful that I had a daughter like you
god blessed me very well and that is the truth
