The Tree that I see.

by Jason   Dec 17, 2006

Tiny sapling so full
Outstretched branches opening wide
Eager to become the mighty tree

Battered by storms
Harassed by the elements
Touched by times cruel hand

Through roots buried deep
Harsh nourishment fed
Each passing season growing slowly

Autumns chill wraps you round
Leafless limbs begin to shiver
Feeling naked and exposed

Frozen winter paints ice upon you
Blocking out the warmth of the world
Leaving only dreams of spring

Spring has come with fear
Afraid to let the leaves return
Not allowing your fruits to ripen

The beauty that I see
Is in what this tree is meant to be
When its limbs dance upon the breeze
