One painful year

I wish we were
two years back
we'd call each other
at the drop of a hat.
we'd laugh and cry
best friends we'd say
right up until
that one September day.
i remember you said
as that night ends
''erin mcginnis i hate you
we'll never be friends"
i pleaded & apologized
for nights i would cry
i don't know why you hated me
i did hate you, i will not lie.
but now you want to
be friends again
after a whole year of pain
what is there to gain?
should i come back?
and say okay..
or do what my heart says
and push you away..
