This Black and White World

Is there a world beyond
This everyday black and white?
Where there's always something more
than the simple wrong and right?

Is there another choice,
Besides choosing love or hate?
Accepting everyone for who they are
Whether theyre gay or straight?

Skinny or fat shouldnt matter
Nor should beauty or looks.
Listen to the old saying:
Dont judge the covers, judge the books.

Can there be no rich or poor?
But all be equal instead?
Money shouldn't matter
as long as were healthy and fed.

Cant there be more answers to life?
Apart from the vague yes or no?
Our questions just keep being multiplied
More and more as we grow.

Let's have no more insults,
But rather save our breath.
That precious gasp of air,
Could save someone from their death.

I wish we could erase pain
And no one would be alone inside,
If we could make everyone happy
There'd be a decrease in suicide.

No more discrimination!
Look beyond the color of skin.
Dont stereotype by race,
Look to the person within.

Death and murder reek on our streets,
And the criminals go free.
Wrongful convictions punish the innocent,
With prison and the death penalty.

Lets try to end all war
In this black and white world we live,
Create peace among all people
Learn to forget and forgive.

Why can't we accept flaws?
And bring peace into this place?
Where everyone can be friends
No matter their sex or race

Cant anyone see these problems?
Will we ever understand?
We could change the world
If we would only lend a hand.

Is there more than black and white?
Can there be another way?
Please, God, help me find some color,
or just a hint of grey.

*I completely butchered it, but I think I like it better this way. It won a poetry contest at my school.
