Smile

by Rachellea Kachur   Dec 23, 2006

A girl, once beautiful
Inside and out
Put a gun to her head
As she thought in doubt.
She didn't want to do it
She'd miss some things
But not her depression
And the trouble it brings.
To everyone watching,
A smile is given.
And everytime
It was like a thousand knives
Stabbing at her heart.
Her family a wreck
All promises broken
Her life was falling apart.
She thought about him,
All the things he had said,
All the promises he made,
The things he put in her head.
He told her he loved her
It was all a lie.
She fell to her knees
And started to cry
Her friends turned against her
She had no one to turn to.
They had all deserted her
When things got rough.
No one would help her
She had had enough.
Always being alone
Never having friends
Was what made her turn to suicide.
It was the only way to get
The respect she had wanted
No one would respect her unless she died.
Trying to include everyone
she could remember.
She turned the gun over
When she got to him,
The boy who said hi
In the hall today as she had walked by
She thought about him
That was all she could remember.
She'd put it off
Just for one more day
And try to meet the boy
That had bothered to say hey.
He saved her life.
Just by offering a smile,
To a girl he hardly knew.
That kept her going
Just the extra day.
That extra day,
Was all she needed.
