This is your Warning

by Chelsey   Dec 27, 2006

I see a red light brightly flashing in my head
It reads, "slow down now this is your warning,
Enjoy your Christmas Traditions now
Because they all might change one Christmas morning"

I'm just now realizing I'm no longer young
To some Christmas has become a pain
But if God could just grant me a single wish
I'd wish for Christmas to always be the same

I don't want the Christmas Spirit to die in our hearts...
I don't want to see my family fall apart...
I don't want to see my Grandma pass away...
I want all these good Christmas' to stay...

One day I'm going to be to old
To run and jump on my brothers bed
One day my parents may be divorced
And one day my Grandmother will be dead

One day we all will be in seperate places
Opening gifts in different homes
Its sad to even think of this happening
One day someone might be spending Christmas alone

Perhaps if that all happens one year...
I'll go to a silent beach and just shed some tears...
I hear the weathers nice in Florida and in Oz...
Maybe I'll spend Christmas there wishing I believed in Santa Clause...

I see a red light brightly flashing in my head
It reads, "slow down now this is your warning,
Enjoy your Christmas Traditions now
Because they all might change one Christmas morning"

The message of this poem was wonderful, however, I had to read it twice to understand the format it was written in. You have a rhyme scheme of ABCB in the first two stanzas, Then you change it to AABB in the third.

It took a minute bu realized that you had a format that worked. ABCB, ABCB, AABB, ABCB, ABCB, AABB, then back to ABCB.

The flow was a bit rushed at times and didn't fit the rhythm of the poem as a whole, but like I said, after reading it a couple of times was able to make the adjustment.

    Overall, good job.
