Just like Mom

by RAWR.   Dec 30, 2006

I grabbed my lunch off the table,
Just as Mom had always done.
I put it in my book bag
Just as mom had always done.
I zipped up my jacket and buttoned my buttons,
Just as Mom had always done.
I put on my boots,
Just as mom had always done.
I locked the door behind me,
Just as mom had always done.
I walked on the veranda and around the snowbank,
Just as Mom had always done.
Everything was just like Mom,
Only today she wasn't at the window,
She wasn't waving good-bye as i got on the school bus. She wasn't grinning ear to ear and waiting for me to get home.
So today wasn't just like Mom.
