A Year Just Like This

New Years resolutions being made
But I haven't made one yet
I look at this last year
And don't have one regret

I drove a car a few times
But still not sure how to steer it
I got Baptized in August
In the name of the Father,Son, and Holy Spirit

I lit my first big firework
And was in awe of its glare
I went on a missions trip
Showed Hurricane victims that I care

I made a promise to God
To stay sexually pure
I've been backstabbed and lied to
Time has been my cure

I laugh at my mistakes of 2006
Of which I've been in
No human being is perfect
So I'm sure I've committed sins

I've smiled for thousands of pictures
I've cried a hundred tears
But you can't let life itself
Ruin all your years

You may hate life right now
You may despise the world
But you never know if God will use you
To bring joy to a boy or girl

You never know if your smiles
May make a strangers day
You never know what it might mean
To sit with a child and play

I'm not saying live like me
Go ahead and make mistakes and cry
But enter this new year
With smiles and head held high

Personally I don't want the status quo to change
I enjoyed my year of 2006
And I can only hope for 2007
To be a year just like this
