Love poem

by Landi Cordier   Jan 1, 2007

I want to write a love poem,
but no word is so divine,
to sum up the emotion I feel,
in but a single line.

I'd have to write a novel,
a thick book indeed,
with one hundred chapters,
one hundred million lines.

I want to say I love you,
refusing to come off,
the words glued to my tongue,
I want to say I love you,
but words don't seem enough.

for you I've cried an ocean full,
for you I've smiled a million smiles,
for you I've lived a thousand days,
and for you I've walked a hundred miles,
yet these words don't seem enough...

incase you never read this,
and incase we never give this thing a try,
I just want you to know this -
you are that divine.

I want to write a love poem.
But no word is so divine.
To sum up the emotion I feel.
In but a single line.

Sweet and heartfelt. I like the repetition of the first and last stanza. Nice job.

A really great poem .. i love the first and last stanza.. but i dont like how the stanzas in the middle have 5 lines rather than 4 , it disrupts the flow of the poem, which besides the two stanzas with 5 lines is very nice

You've summed up the difficulty alot of people face when trying to describe that feeling.. not just love, but something more.. a divine essence, as you say.

There is never a word to describe love, maybe just that though. Love can describe love. But the ones who can understand it best, are the ones in love. Good work.
