The Glowing Stare. (Has Vanished).

by Unrequited   Jan 1, 2007

In the muddy river of angels
i see bodies lying there
cold;
shattered like a mourning heart
hopeless.

we die within each other's gaze
eyes glazed over with shallow grief
deep, icy disbelief
dry skin cuts your life off from the ones you've loved
they throw you into the depths,
black hole of shame
gray home for those neglected
residence for unrequited hearts...
here, i belong.

too much sorrow for one to handle
you left my side
we are without the strength to be apart
yet you crawl away upon your belly
ashamed but relieved.
our fire died this morning.
dark shadows devour us today
cuts across the child's face,
coated with misery.

the glowing stare is gone.
blood spilled into the river
realizing past mistakes
a memory you cannot replace
you never told me the truth-
lovers were never meant to be.

nothing to fear
no reasons to exist
stars fall into cheerless waters
just like empty promises...
i am left only with doubt.

you kissed me cold
with hopeful eyes
you swore to make the sacrifice
you held tight and you tried...

but you are no one.
you are nothing but a lie.

where were you when i needed a hand to hold?
