First Day

by Michael   Jan 2, 2007

I soon awake, from a dreaded dream,
see people and hearing their screams.

As soon as I got outside, it was very hot,
I saw corpses lying on the ground and stank with rot.

In town, I was attacked by bandits and a thief,
They took my last remaining food and possessions, or so I believe.

AT lunch, I ate a tasty sandwich but somehow it squirmed,
When I spat it out, it was covered with maggots and worms.

At work, work upon work was stacked upon my desk,
As I watched people beat others, how dreadful and grotesque.

At dinner, they said they served no food,
While I watched others ate theirs, that was freshly stewed.

When I tried to use my computer, I was finished with a great lore,
But then the computer crashed, and I went into a fit and fell to the floor.

When I went for a quick walk,
People soon followed, and knew I was stalked.

I quickly went to the police station,
But said they were closed because, "You didn't pay a donation."

The people came up on me, and breathed on me, it was freezing,
On the way home, they started to yell and even tease me.

When I tried to run faster, but they soon came back,
They started beating me and threw me across the railroad track.

I came home, all dirty from a recent flash flood,
I turned on the shower, but it poured out blood.

I tried to calm myself, by playing with the cat,
But it soon hissed, and filled my face with a scratch.

I was soon extremely very hungry and wanted to eat,
But the food was covered in cockroaches, so I soon went to sleep.

My bed, which was made of the finest clothing, maybe more,
But as soon as I went in, it broke and hit the floor.

I soon went to sleep, but soon expected the same,
The dream was being killed by a large flame.

I soon woke up at twelve, a new day was here,
I wish my wife was here to make me more cheer.

What soon became from the light and fell,
I just endured my first day in a thousand years of Hell.
