At liberty to Dream

by Hear You Me   Jan 2, 2007

When your eyes are cloaked in darkness
and you lay down your heavy head
the whole world spins around you
but insomnia fills you with dread

Everyone seems to be asleep
weariness saturates your body
you feel so innocent and meek
made again so vulnerable and fragile

the people that you care for
have left you all alone
and though you are forgotten
you are by no means gone

isolated and out of depth
you abandon all hope and fight
you lie deserted, numb and depressed
smothered by the desolate night

worries torment your future
memories haunt your past
you want for sleep to hasten and take you
however, even sleep dare not last

but one night, through the smoke
weak rays of sunshine gleam
slowly but steadily sensation reappears
and you are at liberty to dream
