Waiting

by Doug   Mar 29, 2004

I’ve spent many nights,
With no sleep at all.
Thinking of you,
Wishing to relive the past.

When I’d finally sleep,
I’d dream many dreams of you.
The two of us together –
The way it used to be.

This unrequited love is running me down.
Why can’t I be happy with what I have?
Maybe it’s jealousy,
Of the man who has your heart.

That heart, its familiar beat,
Still pulses in the emptiness of my soul.
For that heart used to be mine.
Unifying me with my love.

But now she’s gone,
And there’s nothing I can do,
But sit around and wait,
For something that may never be.

I’ll wait for you forever.
I’ve already waited for what feels like an eternity.
I’ll wait until the day I die.
Loving you more each day.

For I know I’ve found my true love,
And there is nothing that will stop me,
From loving her until the end of time.
She is my world, my everything.
