Two Poems of Late Summer

by Corinne   Jan 9, 2007

1.
As I enter the garden
With a sack of worries
Upon my back
I wonder:

Will I allow a smile
To steal across my face
As a Monarch butterfly
Pirouettes around my head?

Or let myself drink in
The sight of Water Lilies
Draped in colors
No crayon can reproduce?

Can I endure the company
Of a cautious Cottontail
His pink veined ears
Lit from the morning sun?

Shall I permit a gentle breeze
To caress my skin
Soothing and soft
As any lover's touch?

Yes

2.
I've decided
My second favorite fragrance
After Spring Lilacs
Is the scent
Of Summer Crape Myrtle

...Luckily, the bees weren't miffed
- As I sniffed
