People

by Amanda Barker   Jan 12, 2007

You tell me what to wear,
what to eat,
how to act,
and how to treat.
What you don't tell me is how this affects me.
I don't want to weigh what you weight but you tell me to.
I do what you say only cause I think your right,
but that one night
I saw your lies
I became frightened.
Why do I have to be your clone?
Why do I have to like certain people,
hate others,
wear those clothes from that store?
you think you own me when the truth is I own you.
Don't you understand,
society is messed up.
You think you have control,
but your afraid.
I am not and soon will no longer be in your shadow.
You think you own me when truth be told, the world owns me.
You tell me what to believe I don't want to be atheist I want to be Baptist.
Does it matter think about it.
I'll be the one with the crown and you
you will be the one with the whip being drawn across you back.
I love the way I do things.
Not yours
I'll live my life and you'll live yours.
You have no control over me
at least not now.
I can't believe how stupid I once was thinking, you loved me. I am me and you are you, I'll believe what I believe and you can lead others.
