This old man

by Bridget   Jan 13, 2007

This old man's time has almost run out,
but his memories will always remain.
The things he has lived through and seen,
have possessed him with the qualities he has today.

He has witnessed homicide, destruction, and felt pain.
But these things have made him strong.
He has been cared for and felt love;
making him so caring, kind, and gentle - fragile almost.

The sorrow and internal pain in his heart,
has never worn out over the years.
This comes with the feeling of loss,
and spreads like a cancer with every death.

Sometimes he still hears the laughter,
along with the cries and the screams.
He remembers the happy times and the peace,
but thinks of the depression and war.

Don't try and make life perfect,
because the bad things give you great qualities.
Pain, destruction, murder and loss,
makes you so strong, determined and confident.

But make the most of the good things,
feel the love, the laughter, and the peace.
Before this old man's time ran out,
his life flashed before his eyes.

*This may seem like a weird ending! But it's just trying to imply that so much can happen in ones life time, but it can still seem so short.*
