Closes Her Eyes

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Jan 13, 2007

Running the other night
Through her head
Trying to make sense
Of the things left unsaid

She felt his touch
And her own heart flutter
She worked out the words
That he managed to stutter

The sparkle in his eyes
The look on his face
Reassured her she was
Secure in his embrace

The grip of his hand
The laughter in his voice
Made her confidant
She has made the right choice

She's lying on her back
Looking up at the stars
Feeling lost without
Being wrapped in his arms

She'll close her eyes
As a tear rolls down
Listening to everything
But not hearing a sound

Thinking of him
And wondering if
She's old news to him
Or she's something he'll miss

She's not sure what's happening
But she is longing to know
She badly wants to stay
But does he want her to go?

She says a prayer
Before she turns out the light
And she whispers "I love you"
As she closes her eyes
