Beauty Within [Didactic]

by Chelsey   Jan 13, 2007

I sit upon the lonesome stream,
Of curiosity and an undreamt dream.
I hear the sound of an ocean strong,
The fantasy within the stream so long.
It desires of what it cannot be,
It tries to subsist what it cannot see.
It sees itself as petty and frail,
Unlike the ocean so immense and hale.
Weeping and whining below the sky,
It prays to be bold instead of shy.
"Why," It asks, "Do I have to live this way,
Of shame and embarrassment everyday?
All I ask is to be admired,
Not small or dreary or forlorn and tired.
Please tell me, Dear Moon,
Can you grant my wish soon?"
"You are who you are," the dazzling moon replied,
"Don't let the beauty within you die.
You appear to be tiny and delicate and sad,
But you have the heart of an ocean, be glad!
The ocean dreams just like you,
Wanting to be a stream so pure and true."
