Worse Tomorrows

by Erin   Jan 15, 2007

Quick to anger, fast in sorrow
Always awaiting a better tomorrow
Alas! This waiting does naught at all
But open gates for hopes to fall
For when that new day does arrive
Disappointment shall arise
Then with the absence of joy and glee
I drown in sadness quietly
For plagued am I with frequent sorrows
Of a million worse tomorrows

All this sadness comes from within
For one trapped by fear shall never win
Riddled with wishes, hopes, and dreams
My mind has formed a thousand schemes
These plans however are never achieved
They’re often forgotten as soon as conceived
With dread of failure and of rejection
I surrender such dreams for my own protection
Thus my sadness comes from within
Trapped by my fears, I’ll never win

Searching through darkness for the light
Cowering in shadows, full of fright
Longing to live and finally break free
To break down the wall and simply be me
Will I ever be able to conquer my fears?
Will I speak my mind in front of my peers?
What does the future hold in store?
Will I gain the courage to fly and soar?
Searching in the darkness of the night,
I lurk in the shadows, full of fright.
