Solace

by Yeshi   Jan 20, 2007

Where do you run
When you're at your wit's end?
How can you hide from remorse
When you're plagued by your own thoughts?

How can you feign happiness
When all you really want to do is cry?
Carve a smile upon your face and
Keep your despair bottled inside.

Mislead everyone around you;
Make them believe your days
Are full of jubilance.

Swallow a knife
And simulate a laugh.
Wear your mask
Until dusk falls.

Embrace the loneliness.
You're safe now with the dark
As your companion.
Release your long-bound tears;
Let them fall into the arms
Of the night.

You're safe now in the darkness.
Free to bleed.
Free to weep.
You no longer need your disguise.

The stars and moon will
Add their affectionate comfort
As the gloom envelopes you.
Don't be afraid;
You're safe now in the darkness.
