The Sandman Inn

by Richard S   Jan 21, 2007

The Sandman Inn looks at me,
Across the parking lot.
But I am here at Country Inn,
Learning lessons taught.

Lessons like I'd miss you there,
Just the same as here.
I envy those who stay there,
But should not shed a tear.

The buses pull in just the same,
And you are on them not.
The buses leave from that place too,
Escape would still be caught.

The sun would set same time each day.
My room still empty you.
The sun would rise when I'm not there.
My days off would be few.

I bet the rooms are finer there.
Not that mine is bad.
The appointments are much nicer there.
But without you I'd be sad.

The Sandman has a restaurant,
And a pool and gym.
But I eat too much as it is,
And fail at being slim.

The action always seems to be,
Across the parking lot.
But action doesn't interest me,
Without you in my cot.

And so the Sandman may look fine,
And makes me want a suite,
So I could look across the lot,
And envy past retreats.

Hey I really enjoyed this poem. The imagery was great! I'm Canadian too and I may or may not have heard of that inn.

    Awesome poem,
