A long time ago,
You held me in your arms.
Sheltering and protecting me,
From the world's harms.

You held my heart,
In the palm of your hand.
But you left to travel,
To some foreign land.

I gave you all of me,
I handed you my soul.
Once you were gone,
My heart was a black hole.

I tried to be faithful,
To be loving and true.
All those other men,
They never replaced you.

I'm sorry I hurt you,
That I broke your heart.
I was so very young,
We were so far apart.

None of the others,
Meant anything to me.
