Path of Reflection

by Rose   Jan 23, 2007

Her footsteps echo on the bitumen road
Tracing a path she has taken so many times before
The calm and peaceful evening contrasts
With the inner turmoil of her heart

The journey is always the same
As familiar to her as the back of her hand
It's her release, a half hour of reflection
Time alone in a frustrating world

It is an attempt at normality
An attempt to forget her troubles
To forget her problems she must face
But isn't strong enough

The route she takes is unchanging
The landscape forever the same
Much like her life
The road seems endless, yet leading to nowhere

Great poem, awesome meaning. I love the word use, the melancholy emotions that you provide. Nice meter. Good job overall
