My Undeclared War

by Emm   Jan 24, 2007

My life seems so surreal right now,
Trees flutter by,
A butterfly,
Floats above my head.
The stars caress the night sky,
It seems so odd,
That this has all continued,
To be so beautiful,
When true beauty,
Was taken from me,
In that year of pain,
War is all around us,
Everyone battles something from time to time.
Some are dying for a chance of freedom.
But receive a lack thereof.
My angel looks down onto me.
And sees the tear I shed.
Just one.
For the precious life lost that day.
Glorious emotions fill my head.
Even though you have moved on,
Into heavenly abyss,
You'll be missed,
Not dismissed,
Out of minds,
And insane depictions of your bliss.
Will be shed upon those of us,
Fortunate enough to have known you.
A wonderful comedian.
An even better friend.
The one who taught me to make the best of what I have.
And the best of what I don't.
You're the one who taught me war is bad.
But then you went off into battle,
And I never saw you again.
I feel you,
In the morning,
When I'm getting ready to go into battle,
In what I call my undeclared war,
You're there.
You hand me my sword,
And I carry on.
Unable to see you,
But I do not need to.
Because I know,
Deep down,
That no matter what,
The war is worth it.
