Abnegation

by Jacob M Parnell   Jan 25, 2007

This world is in denial,
Our lives are untrue.
Nothing gives us meaning,
And in the end its only you.

Everyone on this earth dies alone,
I realized this today.
Your only left as a memory,
The rest is just decay.

There is no God to help us,
No Anubis to welcome us to death.
There is only the individual,
We're the only thing thats left.

Its a sad fate,
Which only humans hold.
Yet we desire for a meaning,
In a world thats so cold.

Which is why I've abnegated this world,
Ive chosen a separate path.
Because when I die alone,
I look forward to insignificant wrath.

I'm no longer worried what will happen,
Nothing really matters anymore.
I'm content with false hope,
Because now there is no war.

I've given into my affliction,
I have nothing more to question.
And through my abnegation,
I've let go of my obsession.

I'm happy with my fate,
Weather it be Heaven or Hell,
And if there is nothing at all,
I will still bid this world farewell.

Theres nothing to worry about,
Life will come and life will pass.
But even after my death,
I pray my Abnegation last...
